Hot for Harlow-esque Dots

These past few days have been filled with vintage fun!  Yesterday was Miss Bee's vintage wedding shower (more photos from that day forthcoming in the next post). Here's a peek at what I wore: 1930s polka dotted dress from Dear Golden, vintage cream & navy hat, and my favourite 30s cream shoes.  This is by far my favourite 30s ensemble ever! I felt a bit like Jean Harlow in Bombshell :D

Vintage Tea with Miss Bee!

Yesterday evening, the beautiful Miss Bee and I attended Dr. Anne Bissonnette's lecture on the history of Tea Gowns hosted by Rutherford House.  What a treat!  Here's a little recap of the evening, in instagram photos (well, I took my outfit photo in advance, but the rest were instagrammed). Attendees were encouraged to dress up...there was a wee contest for best dressed and my 1930s ensemble won (I thought B. should have at least shared in that title, but what an honour, as the other guests looked great!!!).

1930s hat (in my shop)
1930s dress: Wildfell Hall
1930s and carved bangles: my own collection

Rutherford Photo Shoot, Part Two

Here are the key images from my vintage photo-shoot for my shop, set at Rutherford House. Items shown are either listed or coming soon!

Rutherford House Photo Shoot

Although plans to work with a local student seeking to compose a Look Book for items in my Etsy shop fell through last minute, yesterday, I did the photography and vintage styling for what turned out to be pretty darn amazing photo-shoot at the wonderful Rutherford House.  Laurie of Retro Reporter bravely stepped in, not only to assist with wardrobe/outfit styling, but also to oversee the make-up and hairstyling, to chauffeur us to the shoot site, and generally to help oversee that everything behind the scenes was running smoothly all day.  My beautiful friends, Charly, Nicole, and Chantel, served as my incredible models and each also contributed their vintage hair & makeup skills to help us produce the series of images I captured!  I will reveal more of the photos from the shoot in the next post (though some are already up in my etsy listings).  Today, I wanted to give you a sample of a couple of the images we did of the amazing Edwardian gown in my shop, as a kind of wistful marker of the anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic.

Sisters of Spring

I just had to share these amazing 1920s colourized photos I found online. Apparently, they are by Jacques-Henri Lartigue.  Swoon!

Alberta Vintage Roses Vintage Round Up at Atelier Adeline's Attic!

On Sunday, the 'usual suspects,' Laurie of Retro Reporter, Bailey of Miss Bee Vintage, and Erin of My Twelve Cents' Worth got together chez moi, first to deal with Alberta Vintage Roses steering committee matters (apparently, I'm the new President ;), followed by a little housewarming party combined with a casual shop 'trunk show' attended by the gals and some other lovely friends. What a fun evening!!

"She Walks in Beauty Like the Night": Dreamy Blogger Round Up

Unlike some bloggers, I don't really have a static list of my favourite blogs displayed on my page, so I thought I'd mention a few of the beautiful bloggers who dreamy vintage sensibilities inspire me!  They are like living works of art, these ladies!

Dapper Chap #4

After a long delay, I return to my Dapper Chap series, with the dashing Mr. John Akridge, of Pasadena, California.  Both he and his lovely lady Katherine--shown in the last two photos--wear vintage clothing with great elan, whatever the occasion. Delightfully dapper, non?
